Easter is rapidly approaching and I still seem to have a ton of makes I was wanting to finish in time but don’t think I will get them all done – really need to stop starting so many projects!
First completed is a mini chick storage basket, this is much smaller than my previous baskets but is perfect for any little bits this Easter, it would be great for gifting with a small egg on or a couple of tiny eggs.
I want to try make a few more in a couple of different colours but am not sure if I will have enough time!
Easter Crochet Mini Chick Storage Baskets Pattern
Finished size (approx.):
- Height – 7cm.
- Diameter – 4.5cm.
Materials
- 4.5mm crochet hook.
- 1 x 50g balls of DK wool in yellow.
- 1 x 25g ball of DK wool in black.
- 1 x 25g ball of DK wool in orange.
- 1 x 25g ball of DK wool in red.
- Darning needle.
- Stitch marker.
Easter Crochet Mini Chick Storage Basket: Main basket
4.5mm hook, yellow wool.
Make a magic ring, ch1, 6sc into ring (6).
Round 1: 2sc into each sc (12).
Round 2: 2sc into next sc, sc into next stitch. Repeat around (18).
Round 3: 2sc into next sc, sc into next two stitches. Repeat around (24).
Round 4: 2sc into next sc, sc into next three stitches. Repeat around (30).
Round 5: sc around in back loops only. (30).
Round 6: sc around (30).
Round 7: htr/hdc in back loops only (30)
Round 8: sc around (30).
Round 9: Repeat row 7.
Round 10: Repeat row 8.
Round 11: Repeat row 7.
Round 12: Repeat row 8.
Round 13: Repeat row 7.
Fasten off.
Easter Crochet Mini Chick Storage Basket: Feet
Make 2, 4.5mm hook, orange wool.
ch4, sc into 2nd ch from hook, sc along rest of the row (3sc).
Row 1: ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) *(sc, tr/dc, sc) into next stitch. Repeat from * twice more.
Fasten off, leaving long thread to attach.
Sew feet onto the base of the basket, with the bottom edge of the foot 1 row in from the edge of the basket.
Easter Crochet Mini Chick Storage Basket: Beak
4.5mm hook, orange wool.
Make a magic ring, ch1, 4sc into ring.
Round 1: sc around (4sc).
Fasten off leaving long thread to attach.
Sew beak onto the front of the basket.
Sew two loops beneath the beak in red wool by casting on and completing a stitch but not pulling the wool fully through to leave a loop.

Using black wool sew on an eye either side of the beak.

4.5mm hook, red wool.
ch4, sc into 2nd ch from hook, sc along rest of the row (3sc).
Row 1: ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) *(sc, tr/dc, sc) into next stitch. Repeat from * twice more.
Fasten off, leaving long thread to attach.
Sew comb onto the top edge of the basket by placing the bottom edge of the comb 1 row down inside the basket and sewing to secure.
