Card making

Time for a couple more cards…

I saw an idea for a Star card a while ago in Crafts Beautiful magazine and have been meaning to make some like this for a while. I came across some docrafts Papermania Mr. Mister card toppers and paper and some docrafts Papermania Denim Blue dome stickers and twine in my stash and knew that it would be perfect for the Star cards.

I also used some of the docrafts Papermania Mr. Mister paper and card topper with the docrafts Papermania Denim Blue twine and dome stickers to make another card.

Little bit of a break from animal blankets with a flurry of cards!

After weeks of working on animal blankets I decided it was time for a little break, and noticing my card box was looking a little bit empty thought it was about time I made some more cards. It’s been quite a while since I made any and it was great to get out all my card making things and have a good look through at what I actually have – I had forgotten about a lot of what was in there!
The first few lots of cards are made from a docrafts Papermania Tilly Daydreams card set, I’ve had this set for a little while and have made a good number of cards from it already yet there was still loads of bits left for me to use. The Cotton thread detail I used is some Docrafts Papermania Bakers twine in spots and stripes pastels.

I’ve already got my eyes on some docrafts Papermania Mr. Mister card toppers and papers I’ve spotted in my stash for the next lot of cards!

My card making spree comes to an abrupt end with a fizz wizz and a bang, just as I was starting to think it would go on forever… Part 4: Roald Dahl

The last set of cards completed during this making mission were made using Docrafts Roald Dahl papers and accessories that I had left over from my Docrafts Roald Dahl stationary set.  I love this range it brings back all my childhood memories of these books and kids love these cards as they are currently reading the books and enjoying them as much as I did!

Materials used;
– Papers and accessories: Docrafts Roald Dahl stationary set
–  Docrafts Papermania bakers twine in spots and stripes pastels
Unfortunately I only managed to make 5 as I ran out of glue!! I thought I had some more in my stash but no it was nowhere to be found! That brought my card manning to a sudden halt! Although it was probably for the best as I am going to struggle to fit all the new cards I have made into my storage box as it is!

This card making spree is still going strong…Part 3: Birds!

As I already had my Sissix Big Shots die cut machine out for the previous flower cards I thought – why not make some cards using some of my other die’s too! So I pulled out my favourite die – Sissix Bigz die birds number 3!
I opted to make brightly coloured cards with these birds as I think they can really pull off the bright colours and it makes the cards stand out against any others and get your attention!
Materials used;
– Coloured papers: Docrafts Papermania Capsule Collection spots and stripes in brights
– Green and Yellow ribbon from my stash
– Flowers: the smaller flowers were made using the coloured papers and the Sizzix die flower layers and leaves, the bigger were Docrafts Papermania Capsule Collection spots and stripes brights big bloomers
– Buttons: Docrafts Papermania Capsule Collection spots and stripes festive polka mini buttons
Really love these cards, I like that they are nice and simple without too much cluttering up the cards so that the birds can stand out nicely – showing off how cute they are!

The card take over continues… Part 2: Die-cut flowers, layers and 3d

Continuing on my unexpected card making spree I decided to have a go at using some dies which I haven’t yet had a chance to use.
Both are produced by Sissix and I used them in my Big Shot machine, the first is a 3d die, called 3d flower and vine.  It took me quite a while to get the hang of rolling the flower into position from its flat cutout state to the 3d flower in the picture, but after a few disasters and a bit of stress I started to slowly get the hang of it and think it’s turned out really well.
Materials I used include;
– Purple papers: Docrafts Papermania Capsule Collectons French lavender
– Pink papers: Docrafts Papermania Capsule Collectons Wild rose
– Docrafts Papermania bakers twine in spots and stripes pastels
–  Green card
– Wooden buttons: Docrafts Papermania bare basics
– Pearl adhesive gems from the Tilly Daydream ultimate card pack
The only thing that dawned on me after making them was how on earth I am going to put them in the post! Think I might have to give these ones to people in person so they don’t get damaged, nothing worse than getting a card that has a squashed flower on the front!
The second flower die I used was a Bigz die called Flower layers and leaves. This produced 3 different flowers which looked great together. These were much easier to put together than the 3d flower, although it did take me a while to decide on how match the colours together along with the other embellishments on each of the cards.
Materials used;
– Papers: Docrafts Papermania Capsule Collection spots and stripes brights
– Buttons: Docrafts Papermania Capsule Collection spots and stripes festive, polka mini buttons
– Docrafts Papermania bakers twine in spots and stripes pastels
– Ribbon in green and yellow
– Green card
These will be much easier to post than the 3d flower cards, and I love the bright colours I have think they would make anyone smile.  I also think these flowers would look really good using pastel shades like those used in the 3d flower cards too.  What I like about these flower cards is they can be used for many different occasions, this is great as I often find I never have enough ‘general’ use cards as most are specific to birthdays or anniversaries etc.
I really enjoyed using the die’s and making these cards, I have a feeling that both these die’s will be getting a lot of use in the future!

Flying gracefully into the made box are some pink and pretty butterfly cards

In the July 2014 docrafts goody bag as well as the botanicals range I used previously were also some other items from the docrafts Papermania Capsule collection wild rose and Tilly Daydream range.
From these I used;
– Capsule Collection 12″x12″ paper pack in wild rose
– Capsule Collection big bloomers in wild rose
– Capsule Collection polka dot buttons in wild rose
– Tilly Daydream ric rac in natural
Butterfly punch used;
– Super lever butterfly punch by Woodware (punched butterfly is: 5cm/2″ in size)
I love the 3D effect of these cards with the butterflies coming out – I only stuck the middle body section of the butterfly to the card so that the wings would flap outwards.

Staying on a cardmaking track, some more flower themed cards. I need to get making a lot to get my box full again!

After making some cards with quilling detail on them, I decided to crack on and make some more cards using things from my stash as it is starting to get a bit too big to control!. I still had loads of items left from the docrafts July 2014 goody bag I hadn’t got round to using, so I decided to make some cards using those.

The items I used from the docrafts Papermania botanicals range included in the goody bag consisted of;

– Botanicals A5 paper pack
– Botanicals A4 decoupage pack, mixed rose
– Botanicals A4 decoupage pack, blousey flowers
– Adhesive lace trim – botanicals

Also included in the bag are some items from the Tilly Daydream and Capsule Collection wild rose Range, from this I used the buttons (Capsule Collection wild rose), and the
Ric rac ribbon (Tilly Daydream in natural).

The brown ribbon used I had in my stash, bought from Hobbycraft.

I really like this range, the flower patterns are so pretty, and they can be used for lots of different occasions. The large decoupage flowers also work as great focus pieces for a card.
