  1. Now divide the stocking template into strips, number the strips and cut out.

  1. Use these templates to cut out the fabric leaving a 0.5cm seam allowance. You will need to cut out two pieces from each template piece (one for the front and one for the back of the stocking).

  1. Take the bottom two front strips and place right sides together. sew along the top edge to join. Repeat to attach the remaining strips. Repeat with the back.

  1. Cut out 2 pieces of batting that are the same size as the front and back stocking pieces.

  1. To make the hanging loop cut two pieces of fabric 5cm wide and 20cm long, and cut a piece of batting the same length. Place the batting down, place one of the fabric pieces on top right side facing up and the other piece right side facing down. Sew down each side leaving the top and bottom edge unsewn. Turn out the right way.

  1. Take the front stocking piece and place down right side up, take the hanging loop and fold in half, place the raw edges of the hanging loop against the raw edge of the side of stocking front 10cm down from the top edge. Place the back piece on top right side facing down. Sew around the edge to secure leaving the top edge unsewn. Turn out the right way.

  1. Take the 2 stocking lining pieces and place right sides together and sew around the edge to secure, leaving the top edge unsewn.
