Time for the Christmas makes to start….first out a patchwork tree cushion.
I received some lovely Christmassy fabric from the Snowy Woodland range by The Craft Cotton Company and after laying out all the different patterns the an idea of a Christmas tree cushion came to mind. I initially thought of doing some appliqué trees but then thought a patchwork tree cushion would be something a little bit different and decided to go with that.
I drew out my pattern so I could work out the length of all the pieces I would need to put the cushion together and decided the Mistletoe, Pinecone and Woodland Lodge fabrics would be perfect for the tree and background.

Sewing Tutorial: Christmas Patchwork Tree Cushion Pattern
- Take the Pinecone, Mistletoe and Woodland Lodge fabric and cut into 4.5cm wide strips.
- Using the tree outline below as a guide cut the 4.5cm strips to the right lengths.
- Take the first two top left pieces place right sides together and sew along the bottom edge to join. Repeat with the remaining strips that make up the left hand side of the cushion. Next repeat with the right hand sidepieces.
- Place the left and right sides together and sew down the seam to join.
- Take the snowflake fabric and cut into 4 45x5cm strips, fold the strips in half so you have 4 45×2.5cm wide strips. Lay the patchwork front right side up, and place the folded snowflake strips raw edges against the raw edges of the patchwork cushion front.
- Fold the 2 pine forest 45x50cm pieces in half so you have 2 pieces 45x25cm, place on top of the patchwork front so they overlap slightly in the middle.
- Sew around the edges of the cushion, turn out the right way.
