Crochet Halloween Pumpkin/Jack-O-Lantern Storage Baskets Pattern

These Storage Baskets are Perfect for keeping a very close eye on the sweets this Halloween

I love designing and making crochet storage baskets, from animals to Christmas themed I’ve made all sorts over the years, however, I’ve not yet made one for Halloween.

I’ve had the orange wool in my cupboard for ages ready to make a pumpkin themed basket but other projects kept getting in the way – until now, I have finally got round to making some pumpkin storage baskets for putting the sweets into this Halloween!

I added a little bit of texture to the pumpkins to create the slightly ridged effect rather than just having a smooth surface the whole way round.

Crochet Halloween Pumpkin/Jack-O-Lantern Storage Baskets Pattern

Finished sizes (approx.):

Small:

• Height – 14cm.
• Diameter – 12cm.

Large:

• Height – 14cm.
• Diameter – 17cm.

Materials:

• 6mm crochet hook.
• 2 x 100g balls of DK wool in orange.
• 1 x 50g ball of DK wool in black.
• Darning needle.
• Scissors.
• Stitch marker.

6mm hook, 2 strands at the same time, orange wool.

Make a magic ring, ch1, 6sc into ring (6).

Round 1: 2sc into each sc (12).

Round 2: 2sc into next sc, sc into next stitch.  Repeat around (18).

Round 3: 2sc into next sc, sc into next two stitches.  Repeat around (24).

Round 4: 2sc into next sc, sc into next three stitches.  Repeat around (30).

Round 5: 2sc into next sc, sc into next four stitches.  Repeat around (36).

Round 6: 2sc into next sc, sc into next five stitches.  Repeat around (42).

Round 7: 2sc into next sc, sc into next six stitches.  Repeat around (48).

Round 8: sc around (48).

Round 9: sc around in the back loops only (48).

Round 10: *3sc, 2sc into next stitch, 4sc.  Repeat from * around (54).

Round 11: *5htr/hdc, skip stitch, htr/hdc into next stitch, htr/hdc into skipped stitch, 2 htr/hdc.  Repeat from * around (54).

Round 12: htr/hdc around (54).

Round 13: 6htr/hdc, skip stitch, htr/hdc into next stitch, htr/hdc into skipped stitch, *7htr/hdc, skip stitch, htr/hdc into next stitch, htr/hdc into skipped stitch.  Repeat from * around until 1 stitch remains, htr/hdc (54).

Round 14: *4sc, 2sc into next stitch, 4sc.  Repeat from * around (60).

6mm hook, 2 strands at the same time, black wool.

ch5, sc into 2nd ch from hook, sc along row (4sc).

Row 1: ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) sc2tog twice (2sc).

Row 2: ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) sc2tog (1sc).

Fasten off leaving long thread to attach.

Mouth

6mm hook, 2 strands at the same time, black wool.

ch23, htr(UK)/hdc(US) into 3rd ch from the hook, 4 htr(UK)/hdc(US), skip stitch, 4htr(UK)/hdc(US), 3htr(UK)/hdc(US) into next stitch, 4htr(UK)/hdc(US), skip stitch, 4htr(UK)/hdc(US), 2 htr(UK)/hdc(US) into last stitch. 

Fasten off leaving long thread to attach.

Round 3: 2sc into next sc, sc into next two stitches.  Repeat around (32).

Round 4: 2sc into next sc, sc into next three stitches.  Repeat around (40).

Round 5: 2sc into next sc, sc into next four stitches.  Repeat around (48).

Round 6: 2sc into next sc, sc into next five stitches.  Repeat around (56).

Round 7: 2sc into next sc, sc into next six stitches.  Repeat around (64).
