Can never have too many Santas around…Crochet Santa coaster pattern.

Following on from my Rudolph coaster I just had to make one more – this time a Santa, I do have a few more Christmas coasters in mind but I think they may have to wait until next year!. Free pattern for this make is available below:

Crochet Santa coaster pattern

4.5mm hook

25g ball of DK wool in red

25g ball of DK wool in white

25g ball of DK wool in pink

25g ball of DK wool in dark pink

25g ball of DK wool in black

25g ball of DK wool in sparkly white for the pompom (or just the plain white if you prefer)

3.5cm pompom maker (or use two pieces of card with a 3.5cm diameter).

Main Coaster

4.5mm hook, pink wool.

Make a magic ring, ch1, 6sc into ring.

1: (2sc into next sc), change to white on last yo of the previous stitch, (2sc into next sc) three times, change to pink on the last yo of the previous stitch, (2sc into next sc) two times (12).

2: 2sc into next sc, sc, change to white on last yo of the previous stitch, (2sc into next sc, sc) three times, 2sc into next sc, change to pink on last yo of the previous stitch, sc, 2sc into next sc, sc (18).

3: 2sc into next sc, 2sc, change to white on last yo of the previous stitch, (2sc into next sc, 2sc) three times, 2sc into next sc, sc, change to pink on last yo of the previous stitch, sc, 2sc into next sc, 2sc (24).

4: 2sc into next sc, 3sc, change to white on last yo of the previous stitch, (2sc into next sc, 3sc) three times, 2sc into next sc, 2sc, change to pink on last yo of the previous stitch, sc, 2sc into next sc, 3sc (30).

5: 2sc into next sc, 4sc, 2sc into next sc – change to white after the first sc, 4sc, (2sc into next sc, 4sc) two times, 2sc into next sc, 3sc, change to pink on last yo of the previous stitch, sc, 2sc into next sc, 4sc (36).

6: 2sc into next sc, 5sc, 2sc into next sc, change to white on last yo of the previous stitch, 5htr(UK)/hdc(US), (2sc into next sc, 5htr(UK)/hdc(US)) two times, 2sc into next sc, 4htr(UK)/hdc(US), change to pink on last yo of the previous stitch, sc, 2sc into next sc, 5sc (42).

7: 2sc into next sc, 6sc, 2sc into next sc, sc, change to white on last yo of the previous stitch, 5htr(UK)/hdc(US) (2sc into next stitch, 6tr(UK)/dc(US)) two times, 2sc into next sc, 5tr(UK)/dc(US), change to pink on last yo of the previous stitch, sc, 2sc into next sc, 6sc change to red on last yo of the previous stitch (48).

8: 2sc into next sc, 7sc, 2sc into next sc, 2sc, change to white on last yo of the previous stitch, 5tr(UK)/dc(US), (2sc into next sc, 7tr(UK)/dc(US)) two times, 2sc into next sc, 6tr(UK)/dc(US), change to red on last yo, sc, 2sc into next sc, 7sc (54).

9: 2sc into next sc, 8sc.

Fasten off.

Using a 4.5mm hook, cast on in red into the sc next to the white on the right hand side – Pull up loop, ch1, 2sc into the same sc, 8sc, 2sc into next sc, 8sc, 2sc into next sc, 4sc, turn (26).

1: ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) sc2tog four times, 10sc, sc2tog four times, turn (18).

2: ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) sc2tog two times, 8sc, sc2tog two times, turn (14).

3: ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) sc2tog two times, 6sc, sc2tog two times, turn (10).

4: ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) sc2tog, 6sc, sc2tog, turn (8).

5: ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) sc2tog, 4sc, sc2tog, turn (6).

6: ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) sc2tog, 2sc, sc2tog, turn (4).

7: ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) sc2tog two times, turn (2).

8: ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch) sc2tog.

Fasten off

Nose

4.5mm hook, dark pink wool

Make a magic ring, 6sc into ring.

Fasten off, leaving long thread to attach.

Sew the nose onto the face.

Eyes – make 2

4.5mm hook, black wool

Make a magic ring, 5sc into ring.

Fasten off, leaving long thread to attach.

Sew the eyes onto the face.

Pompom

Make a pompom using the sparkly white wool and a 3.5cm pompom maker or two pieces of card with a 3.5cm diameter.

Sew the pompom to the top of the hat.

Smile

Using black thread and a running stitch, cast on at the back of the coaster then using a running stitch to add the smile detail.
