Time for another Star Wars make, and speedily rolling in is a crochet BB8!

I thought it was about time I made a companion for my R2-D2 so got going on a BB8 pattern.


Crochet BB8 pattern

Materials 
4mm hook

Needle
White/cream DK wool
Black DK wool
Orange DK wool
Grey DK wool

BB8 body
In white/cream make a magic ring, ch1, 6sc into ring

Round 1: 2sc into each sc
Round 2: sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 3: 2sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 4: 3sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 5: 4sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 6: 5sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 7: 6sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 8: 7sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 9: 8sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 10: 9sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 11: 10sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 12: 11sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 13-21: sc around
Round 22: 11sc, sc2tog
Round 23: 10sc, sc2tog
Round 24: 9sc, sc2tog
Round 25: 8sc, sc2tog
Round 26: 7sc, sc2tog
Round 27: 6sc, sc2tog
Round 28: 5sc, sc2tog
Round 29: 4sc, sc2tog
Round 30: 3sc, sc2tog
Stuff
Round 31: 2sc, sc2tog
Round 32: sc, sc2tog
Round 34: sc2tog
Fasten off

BB8 Head
In white/cream make a magic ring, 6sc into ring
Round 1: Round 1: 2sc into each sc
Round 2: sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 3: 2sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 4: 3sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 5: 4sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 6: 5sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 7: 6sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 8: 7sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 9: In the back loops only sc around
Change to grey
Round 10-11: sc around
Change to orange
Round 12L 7sc, sc2tog. Repeat 5 times, then change to white, 7sc, sc2tog
Round 13: 6sc, sc2tog. Repeat around
Round 14: 5sc, sc2tog. Repeat around
Rounds 15-16: sc around
Round 17: 4sc, sc2tog. Repeat round
Round 18: sc around
Change to orange
Round 19: 3sc, sc2tog. Repeat around
Change to white
Round 20: 2sc, sc2tog. Repeat around
Change to grey
Round 21: sc, sc2tog. Repeat around
Stuff
Change to white
Round 22: sc2tog, repeat around.
Fasten off

BB8 body circles – make 6

Starting in white, make a magic ring, ch1, 6sc into ring
Round 1: 2sc into each sc
Round 2: sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 3: 2sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Round 4: 3sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Change to orange

Round 5: 4sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Fasten off leaving long thread to attach
Sew on details:

For the orange edge detail – in four places sew 6 overstitches from the edge of the circle to 2 rows down on the white section.

Grey details – sew on using over stitches to make the pattern you want.

Black circles

Large
In black , make a magic ring, ch1, 6sc into ring

Round 1: 2sc into each sc

Round 2: sc, 2sc into next stitch. Repeat around
Fasten off leaving long thread to attach

Small

In black , make a magic ring, ch1, 6sc into ring

Fasten off leaving long thread to attach
Sew the body circles on to the body, then sew on the head and add the black circle details.
