I always start the year with lots of heart themed makes and I wanted to combine a love heart theme into a storage basket.
This is great for gifting although I’ll be keeping this one for myself (might have to make another for a gift!).
Crochet Heart Storage Basket Pattern
Finished size (approx.):
- Height – 14cm
- Diameter – 15cm
Materials
- 6mm crochet hook.
- 1 x 100g balls of DK wool in grey.
- 1 x 50g ball of DK wool in red.
- Darning needle.
- Scissors.
- Stitch marker.
Note: When changing colour, change in the last yo of the previous stitch.
Definitions
Bobble – insert hook, yo (picture 1), pull up loop (picture 2), yo (picture 3), pull through 1 loop (2 loops on hook)(picture 4), insert hook, yo, pull up loop, yo, pull through 1 loop (3 loops on hook) (picture 5), yo, pull through all loops. When changing colour change on the last yo (picture 6).
Front post stitch – insert hook from the back of the work (picture 1), around the front post of the stitch and back out to the back (picture 2), yo, pull up loop (picture 3), yo, pull through all loops (picture 4).
Back post stitch – insert hook from the front of the work, around the back post of the stitch and back out to the front (picture 1), yo, pull up loop (picture 2), yo, pull through all loops (picture 3).

Make a magic ring, ch1, 8sc into ring (8sc).
Round 1: 2sc into each sc (16sc).
Round 2: 2sc into next sc, sc into next stitch. Repeat around (24sc).
Round 3: 2sc into next sc, sc into next two stitches. Repeat around (32sc).
