Crochet Storage Basket Series: Christmas Makes Are Continuing – Crochet Santa Storage Baskets Pattern

I’m in full Christmas makes mode at the moment and am slowly starting to make to some progress. This makes combines Christmas and one of my favourite types of makes – storage baskets, since making my Elf storage baskets last year I have been wanting to do a Santa version and I ran out of time last year so finally I have got them finished.

I actually had another idea half way through making these for a slightly different Santa version too – keep your eyes open for this different design over the next few days!.

Santa Storage Basket Crochet Pattern

Materials

6mm crochet hook.
2x100g balls of DK wool in red .
1x50g ball of DK wool in black.
1x50g ball of DK wool in white.
1x25g ball of DK wool in grey.
Darning needle.
Scissors.
Stitch marker.

Finished sizes (approx.):

Large:

Height – 11cm.
Diameter – 18cm.

Small:

Height – 11cm.
Diameter – 12cm.

Santa Storage Basket Crochet Pattern: Small Basket

Main Basket:

6mm hook, red wool, using 2 strands at the same time.

Make a magic ring, ch1, 10sc into ring (10sc).

Round 1: sc around (10sc).

Round 2: 2sc into each sc (20sc).

Round 3: 2sc into next sc, sc into next stitch. Repeat around (30sc).

Round 4: sc around (30sc).

Round 5: 2sc into next sc, sc into next two stitches. Repeat around (40sc).

Round 6: sc around (40sc).

Round 7: 2sc into next sc, sc into next three stitches. Repeat around (50sc).

Round 8: sc around (50sc).

Round 9: sc around in back loops only (50sc).

Rounds 10-13: sc around (50sc).

Change to black.

Round 14: 22sc, ch2, skip 2sc, 2sc, ch2, skip 2sc, 22sc.

Rounds 15-16: sc around (50sc).

Round 17: 22sc, ch2, skip 2sc, 2sc, ch2, skip 2sc, 22sc.

Change to red.

Rounds 18-23: sc around (50sc).

Change to white.

Round 24: sc around (50sc).

Round 25: sc around in front loops only (50sc).

Round 26: *(htr(UK)/hdc(US)) into next stitch, (tr(UK)/dc(US)) into next stitch. Repeat from *around.

Fasten off.

Belt Buckles

Make 2.

6mm hook, grey wool, using 2 strands at the same time.

ch8, sc into 2nd ch from hook, sc along rest of the row.

Fasten off leaving long thread to attach.

Sew belt buckles into place by threading through the gaps in the basket and sewing the two ends together on the inside of the basket.

Santa Storage Basket Crochet Pattern: Large Basket

Main Basket:

6mm hook, red wool, using 2 strands at the same time.

Make a magic ring, ch1, 10sc into ring (10sc).

Round 1: sc around (10sc).

Round 2: 2sc into each sc (20sc).

Round 3: 2sc into next sc, sc into next stitch. Repeat around (30sc).

Round 4: sc around (30sc).

Round 5: 2sc into next sc, sc into next two stitches. Repeat around (40sc).

Round 6: sc around (40sc).

Round 7: 2sc into next sc, sc into next three stitches. Repeat around (50sc).

Round 8: sc around (50sc).

Round 9: 2sc into next sc, sc into next four stitches. Repeat around (60sc).

Round 10: sc around (60sc).

Round 11: 2sc into next sc, sc into next five stitches. Repeat around (70sc).

Round 12: sc around (70sc).

Round 13: sc around in back loops only (70sc).

Rounds 14-17: sc around (70sc).

Change to black.

Round 18: 31sc, ch2, skip 2sc, 2sc, ch2, skip 2sc, 31sc.

Rounds 19-20: sc around (70sc).

Round 21: 31sc, ch2, skip 2sc, 2sc, ch2, skip 2sc, 31sc.

Change to red.

Rounds 22-27: sc around (70sc).
