A little wall of hearts for Valentine’s Day with a heart wall hanging
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner it’s time to start bringing out all the hearts!, and this year I’ve put together a new decoration to create a little wall of hearts.
I put together this heart themed wall hanging using fabric gifted from The Craft Cotton Company.

Sewing Tutorial: Wall Of Hearts Wall Hanging
- On to paper draw out different sized heart shapes. Cut out and use these templates to cut out the fabric for the hearts leaving a 0.5cm seam allowance. Each heart requires two pieces of fabric (one for the front and one for the back) and you will need:
- 3 extra large hearts.
- 5 large hearts.
- 4 medium hearts.
- 3 small hearts.
- 2 extra small heart pieces for sewing onto other hearts.
- For the plain hearts take a font and back piece and place right sides together, sew around the edge leaving a 4 cm gap for turning. Turn and sew the gap closed. For the hearts with an extra heart piece on the front, sew the smaller fabric heart onto the front piece first (one onto an extra large heart and one onto a large heart) before placing the front and back pieces right sides together.
- Cut out 2cm wide strips of fabric for the hanging strips varying in length:
- 2 45cm.
- 2 50cm.
- 2 40cm.
- Take one of the strips and fold in the top edge, then fold in the two sides so they meet in the middle, press, then fold in half and press again. Slip stitch down the seam to secure. Repeat with the remaining strips.
- Lay out 5 of the fabric strips and place the hearts on top and slip stitch to secure. The remaining strip will become the hanging strip.
- To make the hanging loops at the top edge of the heart strips fold the top over by 2cm and sew to secure.
- To make the hanging strip fold each of the ends over by 2cm and sew to secure.
- Thread the heart strips and hanging strip on to the wooden rod.
