First a sneaky creeper now it’s time for a slightly more friendly mooshroom cow blanket

I really enjoyed making the Minecraft creeper blanket – despite the massive number of grannies I needed to make to put it together. I was surprised how quickly I got through them all to be honest and they were great to make when I only had a little bit of time free and before I knew it I had all 100 made. I do find it quite relaxing doing them (which is a good thing since there are so many!), as once you have done a few you know pattern so you don’t have to concentrate too hard while doing it. As this previous blanket went so well I decided to make another, this time I chose to make a mooshroom cow. To make it a bit different to the previous minecraft blanket I decided to use a different granny square and opted for a solid granny square.

To make the solid granny square:
1- ch4 and slip stitch into first dc to make a round.

2- ch5, then 3trb into the round. ch2 3trb into the round twice. ch2, 2trb into the round then slip stitch into the 3rd dc of the ch5 you started with.

3- ch5, 2trb into 2ch space, 3trb, 2trb into 2ch space. *ch2, 2trb into 2ch space, 3trb 2trb into 2ch space, repeat from * once more . ch2 2trb into 2ch space, 3trb, trb into 2ch space, then slip stitch into 3rd ch of the starting 5ch.

 4- ch5, 2trb into 2ch space, 7trb, 2trb into 2ch space. *ch2, 2trb into 2ch space, 7trb 2trb into 2ch space, repeat from * once more . ch2 2trb into 2ch space, 7trb, trb into 2ch space, then slip stitch into 3rd ch of the starting 5ch.

5- ch5, 2trb into 2ch space, 11trb, 2trb into 2ch space. *ch2, 2trb into 2ch space, 11trb 2trb into 2ch space, repeat from * once more . ch2 2trb into 2ch space, 11trb, trb into 2ch space, then slip stitch into 3rd ch of the starting 5ch.

Fasten off.
To join I placed two of the squares right sides together and slip stitched down the seam with a needle.  I added a round of dc stitches around the edge of the blanket to finish it off, I think it really makes the blanket stand out.
I’ve got a few more ideas for these blankets I am excited to try, I think I may be making a few hundred more granny squares soon!

    1. Each of the granny squares came out at about 9.5 cm square. Total size of the blanket 95×95 cm. A squid one would look brilliant! I’ve still got a few more different ones I’m wanting to do yet!
