
Following on from my crochet ribbon Santa napkin holder it’s time for another version – this time it’s for a Christmas gnome!.
These napkin holders are great for decorating your table with this Christmas, and can be made in any colour you like – perfect for making as gifts in their favourite colours.

Folded Crochet Ribbon Gnome Christmas Decoration With Button Details
Materials
- 25g ball DK wool in green.
- 25g ball DK wool in white or grey.
- Small amounts of pink wool.
- piece of card to cut a 5cm long by 2cm wide piece.
Folded Crochet Ribbon Gnome Christmas Napkin Holder With Button Details
Folded Gnome Body:
With a 4.5mm crochet hook and white or grey wool:
ch100.
Change to green:
ch90, htr(UK)/hdc(US) into 2nd ch from hook, 88htr(UK)/hdc(US), change to white/grey, tr(UK)/dc(US) along rest of row.
Fasten off, leaving long thread to attach.

Nose
Using 4.5mm hook and pink wool:
Make a magic ring, ch1, 8sc into ring, ss into top fo the first sc at the start of the round.
Fasten off, leaving long thread to attach.
Pom Pom
Using white wool:
Cut a piece of card 5cm long and 2cm wide, wrap wool around the 2cm wide end 20 times. carefully remove the wrapped wool, tie around the middle with 1 10cm piece of white wool to secure, cut the loop ends.
Napkin Band
Using 4mm hook and white or green wool, ch20, ss into 1st ch to make a round.
Rounds 1-3: ch1 (doesn’t count as a stitch), sc around, skip ss from previous round and ch1 from the start of the round ss into top of 1st sc of the round.
Fasten off, leaving long thread to attach.

Assembly
- Take the crochet ch length, fold the green section to make a hat shape, with the bottom edge of the hat being the start of the white/grey section.
- Starting at the top of the hat cast on and pull through to the underside of the ch length, attach 2 buttons, pull through to the next folded section and attach 2 more buttons, repeat to the bottom of the hat section. Cast off.
- Cast on at the green and white/grey join section. Complete a few stitches to secure the end of the end section to the folded green part above. Fold the white/grey section to form a beard along the bottom edge. Sew to attach the grey loops that meet the bottom green edge of the hat.
- Sew on the nose.
- Sew on the pom pom.
- Sew onto the crochet napkin band.
