Card Making: Stacked Present And Bunting Themed Birthday Cards

Time for some card making – when an almost disaster turns out ok!

A few days ago I needed a birthday card, so I went to my box of made cards and suddenly realised in a panic that I didn’t have any birthday cards ready! If it had been a wedding or a new baby card I would have had a number of different ones for the occasion but there wasn’t a birthday card in sight!

So after my initial panic I realised I would just have to get one made. So after a rummage through my cards and papers I put together a card which I have had an idea to do for a while. I was super happy with how the card turned out, and decided I needed to get a few more cards made to avoid another last minute card make in the future.

I opted to make a few cards with a similar theme just using some different layouts and am happy with how they all turned out. I still need to make a few more so that my ready made card box is a little fuller so I’m sure it won’t be long until a few more pop up on here!

Card Making: Star Themed Cards

I saw an idea for a Star card a while ago in Crafts Beautiful magazine and have been meaning to make some like this for a while. I came across some docrafts Papermania Mr. Mister card toppers and paper and some docrafts Papermania Denim Blue dome stickers and twine in my stash and knew that it would be perfect for the Star cards.

I also used some of the docrafts Papermania Mr. Mister paper and card topper with the docrafts Papermania Denim Blue twine and dome stickers to make another card.

Card Making: Little bit of a break from animal blankets with a flurry of cards!

After weeks of working on animal blankets I decided it was time for a little break, and noticing my card box was looking a little bit empty thought it was about time I made some more cards. It’s been quite a while since I made any and it was great to get out all my card making things and have a good look through at what I actually have – I had forgotten about a lot of what was in there!

The first few lots of cards are made from a docrafts Papermania Tilly Daydreams card set, I’ve had this set for a little while and have made a good number of cards from it already yet there was still loads of bits left for me to use. The Cotton thread detail I used is some Docrafts Papermania Bakers twine in spots and stripes pastels.

I’ve already got my eyes on some docrafts Papermania Mr. Mister card toppers and papers I’ve spotted in my stash for the next lot of cards!

Card Making: Roald Dahl Book Themed Cards

The last set of cards completed during this making mission were made using Docrafts Roald Dahl papers and accessories that I had left over from my Docrafts Roald Dahl stationary set.  I love this range it brings back all my childhood memories of these books and kids love these cards as they are currently reading the books and enjoying them as much as I did!

Materials used;

  • Papers and accessories: Docrafts Roald Dahl stationary set.
  • Docrafts Papermania bakers twine in spots and stripes pastels.

Unfortunately I only managed to make 5 as I ran out of glue!! I thought I had some more in my stash but no it was nowhere to be found! That brought my card manning to a sudden halt! Although it was probably for the best as I am going to struggle to fit all the new cards I have made into my storage box as it is!

Card Making: Bird Themed Cards

As I already had my Sissix Big Shots die cut machine out for the previous flower cards I thought – why not make some cards using some of my other die’s too! So I pulled out my favourite die – Sissix Bigz die birds number 3!   I opted to make brightly coloured cards with these birds as I think they can really pull off the bright colours and it makes the cards stand out against any others and get your attention!

Materials used:

  • Coloured papers: Docrafts Papermania Capsule Collection spots and stripes in brights.
  • Green and Yellow ribbon from my stash.
  • Flowers: the smaller flowers were made using the coloured papers and the Sizzix die flower layers and leaves, the bigger were Docrafts Papermania Capsule Collection spots and stripes brights big bloomers Buttons: Docrafts Papermania Capsule Collection spots and stripes festive polka mini buttons.

Really love these cards, I like that they are nice and simple without too much cluttering up the cards so that the birds can stand out nicely – showing off how cute they are!

Card Making: Tilly Daydream cards

I had a couple of cards I needed to make for some upcoming birthdays so I got out my stash and got together the bits I was wanting to make the cards with when some things caught my eye, first an ultimate card pack of Tilly Daydream by Docrafts Papermania which I completely forget I had bought, and second some dies for my die cut machine I haven’t yet had a chance to use. I decided since I was already doing a few cards already  a couple more would do no harm.

I opted to start first on the Tilly Daydream ultimate card pack, so will stick on that in this post, I will focus on my use of the dies in another one so the details of the accessories used don’t get mixed up.

The card pack contained a very good amount of card making accessories including:

  • 32 patterned cards in 8 different designs and envelopes.
  • Cream ribbon.
  • 20 decoupage sheets with 5 different designs.
  • 56 adhesive pearl gems of varying sizes.

Apart from using some Docrafts Papermania Bakers twine in spots and stripes pastels on a few of the cards I only used what was contained within the kit to make all of these cards.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this as usually I end up having to dig into my stash to find a lot more extra bits for embellishments when I get a card pack.  I also still have plenty of papers and decoupage card toppers to make a lot more cards.  Often I find in card packs there just isn’t enough contained within them to make the number of cards they indicate – clearly not the case for this.

As you can tell I am very happy with this card pack, I love the Tilly Daydream range, and I am pleased with the cards I have made from it, I think the recipients will be happy too, how can they not be – they are just so cute!
