I came across a year of stitches on instagram by Hannah Claire Somerville (http://hannahclairesomerville.com/home.html) and decided I would give it a go this year. I have been wanting to work more on my embroidery over the last few years and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to practise and attempt some new stitches.
I am using a slightly smaller hoop as I didn’t want to be too ambitious and the thought of a bigger hoop made me slightly nervous! I will try and complete a piece of sewing each day without any pre-planning of an end result so it will be quite random – I’m really looking forward to how it turns out.
I have been wanting to attempt some of the stitches out of this book for quite a while now – it was my Grans who was unbelievable at sewing, it would be brilliant if I could manage to accomplish some of the stitches out from it.
I’m really happy with how it’s turning out so far, fingers crossed I don’t encounter too many problems!
This looks cute so far, and how lovely to be using your Gran’s book

Thank you, so glad I am able to use it – have been a bit nervous until now as some of it looks a bit complicated!

I’ve tended to find that the projects that make me the most nervous are the ones that make me the most proud of myself while I’m doing them…. Hope that’s true for you.

Definitely, always nice to look back on too and realise that you can do it so to always have a try the next time something is a bit daunting
